THE VSO SUICIDE MEMORIAL EVENTMemorial Day is a holiday many of us take for granted, but we at the VSO have learned that it is the most important day we can use to recognize the contributions of our veterans.
Veterans Support Organization stages a Veterans Suicide Memorial each Memorial Day on Fort Lauderdale Beach, and our goal is to expand this memorial to each of the communities we serve.
The 2010 Memorial was staged at the intersection of Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard and Las Olas Boulevard, a high-traffic location that helped the Memorial attract the attention of tens of thousands of holiday beach-goers.
Volunteers set up over 6,000 flags, one for each veteran suicide in the United States last year.
VSO Housing Program Offers Shelter
One of the most important things a human being needs, in order to feel secure, is a place to sleep at night. Homeless veterans number in the hundreds of thousands in the United States, and this tragedy is being met with action! The Veterans Support Organization operates Veterans' New Life Haven, which provides sober, transitional housing for displaced veterans.
VSO is a 501(c)(3) organization. The amount of your contribution that is deductible for federal income tax purposes is limited to the excess of any money (and the value of any property other than money) contributed by you minus the fair market value of goods or services provided by VSO. Donations are 100% tax deductible if no goods or services were received from VSO as a result of your donation.
